Yesterday, we dropped by Barrio Logan to kill some time while my younger daughter was at a birthday party not too far away. We parked not far from Chicano Park, so of course we strolled over to check out the murals. They are as cool as you’ve heard they are.
My older daughter wanted to see if the supermarket near the park had a type of pan dulce called conchas, so Northgate Market was our second stop. It is a standard supermarket but with a lot of Mexican and other Latin American brands. It did indeed have conchas, so be bought a couple and walked to a nearby plaza to eat them.
Our main goal was to get dinner, though. We decided to check out Border X Brewery, which had a nice beer garden in the back and some delicious tacos for dinner.
We tried the pollo asado, carne asada, and al pastor tacos.
All were good, but the al pastor was one of the spicier things I’ve eaten lately. I could feel the burn on my ear drums! Luckily, the IPA was also very good. (In case you’re curious, the other drink in the photo is a michelada.)
We didn’t have time to explore further. We stopped by a couple of street vendors but didn’t have time to browse the shops. We’ll have to come back with more time! There is a trolley stop nearby, so maybe next time we’ll just ride the trolley down.
